Keep Chicago Beautiful offers "Waste-in-Place" teacher workshops full of hands-on ways to teach children about preventing litter, reducing waste, recycling, composting, converting waste to energy, landfills, and more.

Teachers of grades K-8 will find the workshop perfect for Earth Day ideas and environmental awareness units. How about the recipe for dirt dessert? Or garbage pizza?

Free Saturday Seminars for Teachers Each free workshop is given on a Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Chicago Children's Museum or the Museum of Science & Industry. Workshop participants receive educational materials and refreshments.

Keep Chicago Beautiful pioneered this environmental education program in 1989 in the Chicagoland public, private, and Archdiocese schools. Since then, more than 2,000 specially trained teachers have taught the basics of sound solid waste management to more than 100,000 children.

If you're a Chicagoland teacher, call Pat Brey of Keep Chicago Beautiful's education department, 708-445-0865, to reserve your spot at the next workshop.

Keep Chicago Beautiful (KCB) will be offering Teacher Training Workshops at the Chicago Children's Museum & the Museum of Science & Industry on the following dates.
